Fast Forward Through YouTube Rewind

Let me start by saying congratulations to Youtube. A platform for video contents that had its humble beginning in 2005 and has since grown beyond what anyone may have thought possible. A place for videos on a plethora of topics where people of all backgrounds can come to find something they can enjoy feasting their eyes upon. It truly is amazing.           And yet, how can you be so petty and so lazy you damn fools. I bared witness to YouTube Rewind 2019 and it sparked a fire in me like no other, not even the previous year's attempt at a proper Rewind. For over five minutes we were forced to watch the creative department over at YouTube throw in the towel and attempt to pass of this hot pile of garbage off as a proper piece of content.           For those who may not know, last year's YouTube Rewind was considered so horrid and unbearable that the entire online community came together to make it the most dislike video ever. That's correct; a video by YouTube mea

Okay Boomer!

I'm here, in the middle of exam season, to clear some stuff up. There have been some very serious allegations going around about an issue that has been around for years. Now these allegations aren't new, but now that they have been voiced by some very powerful people the issue is finally truly coming into the spotlight. The media is slowly catching on, and while a large portion of the public has been aware for years, those not attuned to the issue are finally hearing about it as well. Before this truly becomes an issue that is fully debated and protested by the masses, I wanted to get my two cents in. The issue at hand? Superhero movies.           You read that correctly. Superhero movies. No one can argue that they haven't been the latest trend since Jon Favreau and RDJ came out with Iron Man in 2008. Or maybe before. I don't know and honestly don't care. The movie business has gone through certain trends, such as aliens, zombies, dystopian future, and m

She's Just Soooooo Tall!

Oh man! Oh baby! I swear if this continues I might have to start making videos instead, cause I can't control myself! In case you couldn't tell by the name of the blog, I am annoyed! Surprise!           Netflix has done it now. No other way to put it, as they have truly outdone themselves. It's a damn miracle that are still allowed to make original movies, because that department should have faced some serious cutbacks based on past performance. But I swear I might as well apply for a screenwriting job at Netflix HQ because it looks like just about anyone can walk in and make a movie for them.            Tall Girl is Netflix's latest original movie, and it is a trip! In what I believe is her first full film, Ava Michelle stars as Jodi Kreyman; the main character of the story. The movie also boasts actresses such as Sabrina Carpenter ( Girl Meets World ) and Angela Kinsey ( The Office ), and I want to make one thing clear. None of the blame in this post goes

Brown is Not the New White

I'm sure that by now, many if not all of you have seen the story on the news regarding Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. The story broke out a few days ago that the Prime Minister has worn full blackface and brown face multiple times over the years in the past, with the latest one being him wearing an Aladin costume in full brown face. The Prime Minister has already issued multiple apologies and has stated that what he did was wrong and racist and that he is owning up to his mistakes.           But I actually don't want to talk about Trudeau too much right now. What he did was very racist and reprehensible, not too mention stupid and pointless. But more than enough people can and have been commenting on his past actions and his current response to the breaking of the scandal.           What I do want to talk about however, is the reaction of people to the scandal, especially the people of Canada who will soon be voting for the next prime minister. One of the most obvious

No one EVER told me life was gonna be this way...

I feel like this sort of thing happens every year you know. For some reason, there is a collective movement that rises up and makes their voices heard to the rest of the world. They tirelessly share their opinions through any outlet available to them, and make the post of their positions in the professional world to try and convert as many as possible. Like pests, they do this for a few weeks before retreating to their hole, readying themselves for the next year's debacle.           I am of course talking about people that despise  Friends  and believe to be unfunny and complete garbage. This is usually started by some journalist or blogger (lmao who even blogs any more am I right???) who is looking to make a splash. And when that article gains any sort of traction, they all come out of the woods and try to stand out in this world. "I'm not like other people. Ha! I'm different and therefore better than you".           I know that this isn't what mo

My Money!

I know its been a while since I've posted another entry, but I have a legitimate excuse this time! It's college time baby! Move in, classes, orgs, all that good stuff really fills up the time! But of course with all the good, it is still college. And with that, I've found yet another thing that makes me both angry and annoyed.           Now obviously one has to go ahead and find textbooks for their classes when required. For the most part required textbooks have cheaper options, whether it be a rental, used, or even a free online pdf. Yes the pricing of text books can be annoying, but at least it's understandable! Teachers have to provide the knowledge from somewhere, and textbooks are perfect. They contain all the general knowledge needed for the course and often have examples of course topics and even practice problems that assist you on exams. And in the end, teachers often need them to provide a point of reference that is needed badly by students, especi

Aaaaaaaaand Time!

I know its been a week or two since the second round of Democratic Debates, but I'm finally feeling up to talking about it. Much like the last time I wrote on this topic, I want to focus on a specific issue I have with the debates. What is wrong with CNN and their damn time limit?           One of the most important things in government, especially a democratic one, is policy. It is important that the people chosen into office have comprehensive policy ideas on a host of topics that directly affect their constituents. It is even more important, however, that we the constituents ensure that we listen to and understand the policies candidates set forward. But CNN just didn't allow for that. Instead, they allowed fifteen seconds for responses. A measly FIFTEEN SECONDS for candidates to outline entire policies on issues as complicated as healthcare, immigration, border security, and gun control. It takes longer than fifteen seconds for Bernie Sanders to warm up his voice

Netflix is Stoopid????

Well, I can't believe I'm talking about this. This shouldn't have to be a topic I riff on, especially with everything going on in the world right now. We have the Democratic Debate, the resignation of the governor of Puerto Rico, even more outbursts of racism from Donald Trump, and a whole number of other news stories from around the globe. I promise that I will get to the topic of Democratic Debates soon, but first let me just deal with this.           Some of you may or may not have seen those posts going around on Instagram of some one messaging Netflix and requesting a certain show to either not leave the platform or to be streamed on the platform. And in each post, Netflix promises to do what is asked if the post can reach 500,000 likes! Wow! Only 500,000 likes and Netflix will do their bidding!            As of the second quarter of 2019, Netflix had somewhere around 151 MILLION paying streaming subscribers worldwide. But hey, 500,000 people on a random person's

Yo Man Do That Bhangra!

Absolutely not. I am out here to have a good time, not to be on demand entertainment for you untalented fools who lack the ability to actually dance rather than copy moves from hip hop culture and decimate them. I'll get to that in a later post, but back to the main topic right now. No. Just cause you lack culture and know that one Punjabi song " Tunak Tunak" by Dilher Mehndi because of those two white guys who danced to it doesn't mean its the only Punjabi song in existence. Is it still a complete banger?  Of course it is, but that doesn't mean we still listen to it or dance to it.           Tunak Tunak is the song non-Punjabi people put on at parties when they see a guy in a turban and want to see them "do that Bollywood dance". (The whole Bollywood vs. Punjabi is also another tissue I will address later). My issue isn't with the song itself and that is something I want to clear up. My issue is the fact that many people (and let's

Some Good Jams

Man, music is honestly very wild. There are so many genres with a type of music for anyone and everyone, and yet people still got problems huh. Music is more complicated than on first glance. On the surface, its just something we as people like because it sounds good or gives a reason to move our body or do something productive. But it really is deeper than that isn't it? Music is reflective of a person and their thoughts and beliefs. The lyrics are the most obvious, as they may cause a person to relate to them or understand them on a personal level. But you can honestly go even further. The tome of the song, the speed, the notes, everything can reflect a persons subconscious mood, whether they want to reflect on their sadness or get hyped for a grueling workout.           One of my biggest pet peeves regarding music however is the phrase, "I don't like the song, it's too mainstream". That is just so foolish. First off, there is a reason the song is mai

The Debate

The Democratic Debates! We just saw the first two happen this past week and my oh my what a showing! I have a lot of thoughts on this upcoming presidential election as a whole so bear with me as I will have more posts on this topic. For now though, I want to focus on something very specific that I saw in the first debate, especially with Cory Booker and Beto O'Rourke. These two men are wonderful, and I do support their policies even though I would not vote for them in the primaries. However, they pulled something in the first debate that really got me mad. Both of them gave answers in Spanish to questions that in all honesty didn't warrant a second language.           I have heard arguments that this was a good move as it showed support for the Latinx community and diversity in general. In my opinion, it was nothing more than plain pandering. None of these men  seem to actually speak Spanish in their daily lives and it is not part of who they are. Speaking Spanish in

Roy Moore (A Pedophile)

In 2020, we will obviously be seeing what is perhaps the biggest election of the free world to see who would be the next president of the United States. But we can not forget that along with that monumental decision, we also have to vote for senators across the country which will influence the make up of Congress. People sometimes forget that not all the power rests in the president's hands and that legislature has to go through Congress as well.           Now in the last Senate election, people may recall the "honorable" judge Roy Moore, the GOP candidate running for Senate in Alabama. He had beaten out Luther Strange in the Republican primaries only to lose the Senate seat to Democratic candidate Doug Jones. Now normally Alabama voting for a democrat over a Republican is surprising, but in this case it shouldn't have been. If you remember, the people had a choice of voting for a Democrat or a pedophile. My problem is that there was even a choice at all. W

TV Shows

I thought that for today, I would a write a small post about TV shows that i enjoy as well as some that I don't. I have to say that while I am a fan of a broad variety of shows, there is a trend in my viewing habits. I am of course capable of sitting down and immersing myself in a drama or a thriller, provided the acting is good and the dialogue makes sense and isn't too cringe inducing or cliche. In my opinion, a good drama doesn't have to have the strongest plot or even the best storytelling. I don't need the stakes to be that high, and I don't need there to be some big twist at every turn. The problems can be small and personalized, and the plot can go where I might expect. For me, a drama or thriller comes from the dialogue and acting. When I see actors trying instill some dramatic action  in their lines, but the best they can do is just yell the words to try and create tension, I really am let down. Of course people yell, but lets be real; they don

Decision Making

Well, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and a pleasant Father's Day. now back to our regularly scheduled programming.           Gosh, decision making really is a process huh? It's hard enough to make decisions for yourself sometimes, and I think that the hardest decisions are often the smallest ones. The big, life altering choices I feel people can make without too many problems, mainly because they spend the time doing the research, thinking about what they want, and then going ahead and following their gut. People know the decision they're making and the consequences they'll have to live with. The smaller decisions however, are harder in my opinion. These are the choices that often creep up on you when you least expect it, the ones that aren't life changing events, but little things that initially have no effect on you. You know that these little decisions shouldn't be too important, stuff like what to eat today or what color phone case to pur

HA! You're SO Funny!

Recently I listened to an episode of Conan O'Brian's podcast that featured Will Ferrell as the guest star. I want to start of by saying I adore both comedians, and I especially enjoy O'Brian's work in particular as this podcast has in fact brought me a lot of joy and inspiration even. But to get back on track, in the episode the two began talking about comedy critics and that moment when a critic decides a comedy is too bad because it is "juvenile, not creative, and the death of what comedy should be". To which I have to say, so what?           So what if a comedy is juvenile and makes jokes using childish pranks and insults coupled with vulgar language instead of witty quips and meta comedic bits? Don't tell me its any less funny as a movie, or show, or whatever really. It's obviously different, but to say that its straight up not funny just because its childish? Like come on man, I think its you who has to grow up. Something being intellec

Video Game Culture

Video game culture in my opinion is just absolutely wild. It really does show the diverse nature of the human psyche and how my people can change and interact with one another. Right of the bat, the most common mainstream representation of "gamer culture" is a bunch of geeks sitting around in the dark drinking mountain dew and eating potato chips while yelling racial and homophobic slurs in a voice chat. I think by now most people know that this portrayal is false, but there is still a stigma. Video games are still thought of as childish and filled with a toxic culture that is harmful to people's self-esteem and mental health.           So lets go ahead and separate these two stigmas. Thinking of video games as childish and nerdy is just rude. Of course there are some video games that exist for children and are marketed towards them, but consider all video games only for children is condescending and plain wrong. There is of course the argument to be made about

"Indian Food"

Something that I really want to talk about right now, is food. To be more specific. Indian food. The first issue here is that by just saying Indian food, you are talking centuries of culture and heritage and shoving it under a single genre so to speak. It is honestly insulting to hear all Indian food clumped together as if the entire country of 1 billion people with a history spanning back thousands of years has a singular style of cuisine.           The cuisine in the Indian sub continent is vast and seemingly endless. from regions such as Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, TamilNadu, and so on. The style of food ranges from exquisite fine dining to everyday street food. The important thing to consider, in my opinion, is what emotion you want to feel when you eat. Because that is what food can do, it can invoke emotions or satisfy them, and I think that Indian food does that especially well. There really is something for every mood. Pani Puri is there to satisfy your anxious craving

Obligations

On social media, one of the most shared things right now is the ongoing crises in Sudan. And what is happening right now is honestly horrific. The atrocities being committed in the country are in gross violation of human rights, not to mention the sheer lack of morality and humanity in the actions. Men and children are being killed, woman raped and murdered, people being thrown into the Nile in order to hide the body count, the actions are without a doubt absolutely horrific. But it is not the problem of the US government.           I believe that as an individual, you not only have the right to help, but should help in any means possible. Donate to relief organizations, share the atrocities to attract attention to the region, volunteer with aid organizations in that are working to being peace to the country. Offer your time, money, and services to organizations that can bring justice such as the UN and the ICC. As an individual we have a moral obligation and duty to our fel
